Q&A session moderated by Dr. Murat Aydemir
In this “performative artist talk” by showing excerpts from our performances, personal photos, sound recordings and other memorabilia, we told the story of our artistic practice and the everyday life in Istanbul that provided the background for it. As queer artists/scholars who lived at the centre of Istanbul for more than a decade, we witnessed how the LGBT Pride Parade grew each year until it was banned in 2015, the brutal gentrification that paved the road to the Gezi Movement of 2013, and the political tension that has been growing since.
As we do not differ life from art, we responded to all this with art. Since we do not differentiate the artist from the spectator, we asked our audience to join us in another Fluxus performance, which was also a part of our performance/lecture.
