Istanbul Queer Art Collective is an art collective focused mostly on performance art. It was founded in 2012 by three artists, Tuna Erdem, Seda Ergul and Onur Gokhan Gokcek, with a flexible structure open to collaboration. The collective has since been engaged in the ongoing project of remaking Fluxus performances, by “queerifying” and adapting them to the time and place in which they are reenacted. The collective has performed and exhibited at various venues such as Framer Framed Amsterdam, Blok Art Space Istanbul, Istanbul Mamut Art Fair, If Istanbul Independent Film Festival, Istanbul LGBT Pride Exhibition, Zurich Les Belles De Nuit Festival, Queer Future Exhibition Istanbul, Athens Sound Acts Festival, Zürcher Theatre Spektakel, SGFA 2016 London, Deep Trash Underworld London and the public program of the 15th Istanbul Biennial. The collective is currently comprised of the two founding artists Tuna Erdem and Seda Ergul, and is based in London. Expanding upon its engagement with remakes, the collective has started a new project called “dragaptation”, which will present drag versions of literary texts.
